Film Grade HDPE Granules or Pellets

Posted under HDPE Film - Apr 10th, 08

filmgradehdpe_1.jpgWhether you purchase reprocessed or virgin HDPE, it is most likely that you will purchase it in pellet or granule form. This is advisable as pellets or granules (they are essentially the same thing) make for a homogeneous feed stock that when melted, produces products of a uniform quality.

It is possible to purchase shredded film grade scrap HDPE, however it is much more difficult to ensure a homogeneous flow of HDPE through one’s manufacturing line when the various shredded pieces of scrap HDPE are all of varying quality and size.

An additional reason to choose HDPE Pellets is the fact that scrap HDPE pellets undergo an additional screening and filtering process before they are extruded, which means that they contain, on average, significantly lower amounts of contamination than their shredded scrap HDPE counterparts.

Why Film grade HDPE?

If you are searching for a strong, glossy film material for your product, film grade HDPE may be exactly the material you are looking for. It is relatively inexpensive, especially if reprocessed HDPE is used, and has impressive impact resistance, as well as the potential bonus of allowing air flow through the film, which is useful for some applications. Film grade HDPE is used by manufacturers and consumers worldwide, and many million tonnes are produced every year. For those who are environmentally minded, you will also be pleased to learn that HDPE film is a highly recyclable product, good for manufacturers, consumers, and the environment alike.
